Charlie Morton

After a series of spiritual encounters with Nature, Charlie began working with plants in his early twenties. Growing trees from seeds and planting them on his parents’ farm quickly grew into a passion for permaculture and ‘forest gardening’ – growing food and medicine through natural ecosystems.
For more than 10 years, Charlie has been working as a permaculture/forest garden designer – creating and caring for edible, ecological landscapes that support humans, Nature, and our reunion with Nature.
Since 2019, Charlie has been working on a small scale eco-project on his land near Cēsis. Natural building, foraging wild plants, nature photography, and creating wildlife habitats are how he enjoys his days there.

Permaculture stands for ‘Permanent-culture’ – a way that humans could live on the earth in harmony with Nature – permanently! To do this, we need to remember ourselves as part of Nature, repair the damage we have done, and implement intelligent, holistic models of living.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to make a ‘lasagne’ vegetable bed. By layering carbon-rich materials like cardboard, paper, grass clippings, and even wood, we can create productive, low-maintenance vegetable beds from waste materials, without digging the earth, without disturbing the soil.
Lasagne gardening is fun, easy, ecological, and produces beds full of fertile, black soil that will grow plentiful vegetables for many years to come!
